Why Should I Spend my $?
When I was in the missionary training center preparing to serve a mission, my missionary companion Elder Baird shared with our group of missionaries his philosophy on why he didn't date before his mission. His philosophy was simply ""Why spend money on some else's future wife? I thought it was a good excuse and wrote a song about it. It only took 10 years to finish it.
Why Should I Spend my Money?
Songwriter - John West
Album - Who's Been Sleeping in Papa Bear's Bed?
She made me smile, she made me laugh
She liked the flowers that I bought
To tell the truth she's pretty close
To being what I want
But I didn't get that feeling
I'm wanting deep inside
A nice try but I'll say goodbye
And in this before it starts
Chorus - Cause why should I spend my money?
On someone's future wife
Why fool around and play around?
With someone else's life
Suppose I could have fun
Yeah and maybe then work things out
But I think I'll save my money for now
I took her to a show I felt like the actor
On that big old silver screen
Using my rehearsed lines to convince her
To fall in love with me
I walked her to her door
She said lets do this again
I must have broke her heart
When I said we should just be friends
Chorus - (Repeat)
Bridge - Oh money don't grow on trees
Yeah and loving ain't free
Oh and happiness is real
You got to believe in how you feel
Chorus - (Repeat)
Vocals - John West
Drums / Piano / Bass / Synth / Guitar - John Houston
