An Angel in a Bar
I can't really remember how I got the idea behind this song. A) I don't go to bars and B) I married an angel. As a songwriter I like to write songs that have nothing to do with myself. My imagination took control and this is what I got. It's a bridge song and a short one at that. I hope you didn't meet your angel in a bar. No offense intended if you did
I Met an Angel in a Bar
Songwriter - John West
Album - Who's Been Sleeping in Papa Bear's Bed?
I met an angel in a bar go figure
Drowning in her broken heart so tender
Looking lost and alone who'd of figured
I'd meet an angel in a bar
So I asked her to dance to Hank Jr
And she laid her halo down on my shoulder
The lights began to dim lower and lower
I met an angel in a bar
Bridge - And the saw dust turned in to a cloud
As we danced we floated off the ground
& I didn't ever want to come back down
Wrapped up in that angels arms
(And we danced!) - Instrumental Solo
I asked if I could have her number
She said yes so I searched the room for a pen & paper
And when I turned around she was dancing with a stranger
Who'd met an angel in a bar
Well the moral of my tell I've come to figure
Is one I should've known well and I can picture
Moma pointing and shaking at me her finger
You don't meet angels in bars
That's right son, there's no such thing as an angel in a bar
