I love this song!
I like the strings and guitar sounds that kick it off. I think this is one of my stronger melodies. It has a deep double meaning. Most listeners might think that the man who is trying to give up his addiction is trying to do it for a woman, but the way I like to interpret the song is different. The man is talking about his vices (cigarettes, alcohol, and debt) and how they effect his relationship with God.
I believe that God wants all our time and attention. He wants us to be strong, wise, steady, loving and nourishing. I believe that we all have addictions that get in the way of our relationships. Whether it's a significant other, or whether it's God, they deserve to be our only addiction.
The best part about this song is it how it ends. The man makes a decision to quit putting off waiting to change and decides to quit everything cold turkey. I hope it has the power to help people change their lives.

Album - I Wish I Was A Mexican
You want a strong man
You need security
You're looking for a steady hand
Loving and nourishing
You need trust
And someone who'll listen
You want to be a man's only addiction
Chorus - If I could choose my addiction
I'd give up cigarettes
I'd quit drinking alcohol
I'd pay off all my debt
If I could choose my addiction
Well I'd give up all the rest
To be in you're loving arms forever

You want a wise man
To build a house on a rock
A straight and narrow man
A doer not talk
And you need time
You want attention
You need to be a man's only addiction
Chorus - (Repeat)
Bridge - With your number in my pocket
Your just a call away
And that gives me confidence
That one day I'm going to change
Yeah someday I'm going to change
No! Now I'm going to change
Chorus - I'm going to choose my addiction
I'm going to give up them cigarettes
No more drinking alcohol
I'll pay of all my debt
I'm going to choose my addiction
I'm going to give up all the rest
To be in your loving arms forever
